The Cortina GL, real luxury which is immediately obvious from
the beautifully finished exterior. The L model's coach lines are replaced by
bodyside mouldings with protective inserts. Attractive steel sports road wheels
are fitted. There are bright belt-line mouldings and bright trim around the
front grille.
The GL is available in 4 door saloon or estate car versions,
each with a choice of the 1600cc standard engine or the high performance 2 litre
with twin venturi carburettor.
But it's inside that the luxury GL really comes into its own.
There's a wood-veneered bezel surrounding the instrumentation, which is upgraded
to include a super accurate quartz clock. And in addition to the standard
odometer, the GL has a useful trip recorder. A top quality Ford push button
MW/LW radio is fitted too.
The all new four spoke steering wheel has a chunky soft feel
rim to give the GL owner safe positive control. He and his passengers will be
more comfortable too, because the GL has a unique seat style with deep cushions
giving added comfort. The seats are trimmed in premium grade Diamond fabric
trim. Front seats are fitted with inertia reel seat belts at no extra cost,
whilst the rear seat in saloon versions has a folding centre armrest. Behind the
rear seat the package tray has a durable vinyl finish.
The GL has high quality colour keyed door trims, which have a
black roll over top treatment. Front doors have integral map pockets, and all
doors have improved armrests. The windscreen pillars are trimmed in black vinyl
and the windscreen wipers have an intermittent wipe facility for extra
convenience.
All this extra equipment, over and above the already
comprehensive specification of the L model, makes the Cortina GL a package of
luxury and equipment which offers a unique opportunity for the discerning
