MK4 Cortina L
Extra comfort and convenience features make the
L version very desirable
The Cortina L model has all the sound design, quality and
features of the standard Cortina - plus added comfort and convenience features.
There's a choice of 3 engines on the L models; the 1300 economy engine is
available with 2 door and 4 door L saloons, the 1600 economy and 1600 standard
engines are both available with the 4 door saloon and estate models.
The L models are identifiable by their distinctive exterior
appearance. Bright window mouldings, bright drip rail cappings and bright mylar
inserts in front and rear screen weather-strips. There's a bodyside coachline
accentuating the feature line, and L series badging. The air intake below the
front bumper is fitted with a black two piece grille. The big rectangular
headlights have powerful halogen bulbs for even better beam intensity. The
chrome bumpers have wide section propathene inserts for extra protection.
On Cortina L Estate cars, electric tailgate wash/wipe is
standard equipment. On 2 door L saloons, opening rear quarter windows are an
extra standard feature.
Inside the new Cortina L, the extra features give much more
comfortable and luxurious interior. The seats are trimmed in practical Beta Plus
fabric - warm in winter, cool in summer. Front seats are reclining and have
valances. The tailored carpet is colour keyed to the interior (except for the
load space in L estates, which is a sensible black).
On the facia, the glove box lid and nearside eyeball vent
bezel are trimmed in soft feel black Alkor, and the glove box has a lock and
light for extra security and convenience. There's a trinket tray moulded in
black, and behind it a black double skinned gaiter on the gearshift. This double
gaiter cuts down the intrusion of noise, which is further reduced by the
additional sound insulation on the roof panel - making the Cortina L a really
quiet and refined car to drive. to get the best performance from the sound
insulation fitted to the roof, a perforated head lining is standard. The
passenger sun visor has a safety vanity mirror fitted, and there are grab
handles for the rear seat passengers.
The Cortina L model - valuable extra features make it an even
more rewarding car to own.
